Excerpt: Silence in the Chapel-Chapter 18 Solitude & Serenity

What I’m working on…

Faith, that deeply help belief in a larger system at work, is decidedly a powerful force. But it would be remiss to visit it without examining its darkness. The prayers put out, without thought of cost or consequence. For success in difficulty, even if it inconveniences or harms others; or for requests from ignorance; for prayers unanswered and faith broken. From these arise the deep and dangerous undercurrents that birth demons and hells and monsters. And it is in the face of this cycle of sinister parthenogenesis that good men and women must tend to the gardens of our souls with unremitting courage and attention.
