It’s hard for me to put into writing how just impossibly incredible this man was. He helped us restart the CSUN powwow in the early 2000s and he danced at almost every one. His stories (and especially that one time he chastised us–a longer story but just knocked me off my feet) taught me so much on how to be a man and how one can commit to a life of dignity and grace.
To him, wherever his spirit is, I offer some stumbling words from my heart:
May the Road carry you home.
May the stars always mark your passing.
The world was richer for having you dance upon it.
And we will hold a space by the fire
For your words and your wisdom
And your absence.
